A look back at the threads of the F.A.N. forum: Christian’s angle upon returning in doubt

In the long and storied history of the F.A.N. forum there have been threads that have taken a life of their own just because of how strange, outlandish and hilarious they are. Among them are the Christian’s angle upon returning in doubt thread started by Ufarkendarf on February 1, 2012.

It all began on that February 1 of last year when Prowrestling.net posted the following as a news item on their website and Ufarkendarf posted it on the forum.

“WWE officials are scrambling to come up with an idea for Christian upon his return from injury. Initially, Christian was to come back as an assistant to VP John Laurinaitis, but that has been nixed as a number of civil rights groups have already complained based on a rejected script. “The WWE is attempting to bring slavery into their brand”, stated Jonah Gonzalez of the ASU (Anti-Slavery Union). “It’s widely known that Jay Reso is a big supporter of slavery, but his employer does not have to perpetuate this.” Christian, whose real name is Jay Reso, made headlines last year while trying to bring home a slave purchashed during a WWE sanctioned trip to Malaysia in early 2011.”

This is very funny for a few reasons: sheer absurdity of it combined with the outlandish false accusations made against Christian as well as the notion that the Anti-Slavery Union has access to WWE scripts and uses this knowledge to object to the man being Mr. Excitement’s assistant based on headlines that never existed from the beginning of 2011. The misspelling of the word purchased used the news item is an added bonus.

The thread consisted of reactions of a humorous nature by many members of the forum as well as jokes about the crazy nature of the story. Many pictures were created for the thread. The one below created by Lancers is among the best of them.

This thread also gave birth to the forum meme of Christian’s Malaysian slaves.
