Whitechapel are one of the many deathcore bands to have emerged in the mid 2000s but unlike most have actually had a pretty impressive out put. They have managed to rise about the mediocrity of most of their genres peers and been able to stand with the big boys of death metal.
“Our Endless War” is the bands 5th studio album and which they show they are able to push through the standard generic sounds of deathcore and go further toward full blown death metal without losing the melody or the groove that they were known for.
The vocals are as brutal as ever. The drumming is hard and fast with plenty of blast beats and the guitar work is technically proficient enough to almost push the band into djent territory
Stand out tracks include the title track “Our Endless War”, The brutal yet groove laden “The Saw Is The Law” and the rough yet slow and plodding “Worship The Digital Age”
While the album is very solid from start to finish and does show a lot of progress and growth for the band it doesn’t really break any new ground or offer anything that isn’t already available out there and I feel that it could very easily get lost among many of heavier death acts and more of the trendy deathcore crowd.
If your’e a big fan of metalcore in general or your a death metal fan who’s looking for something different then this album is a must. If your not then you might want to stick to something like a Lamb Of God
