What can be said about King Parrot that hasn’t already been said? Right now they are easily the current reigning and undisputed kings of Australian Metal.
After releasing their debut album “Bite Your Head Off” in late 2012 they have climb their way to the top of the Australian metal scene with their combination of blistering thrash and over the top grind with their very Australian humour thrown in on top to create some of the greatest metal tunes I’ve heard produced from the continent
Having spent the last 2 years supporting the likes of Havok, Obituary, Kvelertak, Forbidden, Macabre, Unida and Eyehategod just to name a few the band are now about to start their first American tour and are prepared to take the nation by storm
The debut album “Bite Your Head Off” kicks off with the track “Bozo” which sets a relentless pace for the album which is never slows down from for the entire album.
Youngy’s vocals and shrieking and unrelenting and the guitar work and drumming just hammer you continuously give you no option but to submit and bang your head
Stand out tracks on the album include “Shit On The Liver” which shows off the bands trademark humour. The term shit on the liver is and Australian colloquialism meaning some one is in a bad mood, the title track “Bite your head off” which is still blistering even though its one of the slower paced tracks on the album, and “Blaze in the Northern Suburbs” which the title itself is a parody of a Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone’s album “A Blaze In The Northern Sky” also making a reference to Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs
This album is a must own for all heavy metal fans, especially Australian heavy metal fans. This band is on the verge of becoming something very big and hopefully with in the next 6 months they will have made quite the presence on the American Metal Scene with the US tour including playing SXSW.
