A slight change of plans for this week’s show. The original double feature was “Berberian Sound Studio” and “The Bay”, but the latter got pushed back a week due to the release of Nicholas Winding Refn’s “Only God Forgives”. I was unaware that it was going to be available on VOD, so I snatched it up immediately. Aesthetically, it’s a good pairing with “Berberian Sound Studio”. You’ll have to listen to find out why.
Not a good pairing with anything (nor having any decent aesthetics) is the Corey Feldman starring & directed (!) cop parody “Busted”, which plays like a softcore porno with lame jokes. If the description doesn’t make it obvious, it’s the next inductee into the Cinemasochist’ Dungeon of Horrors. What a torture it was!
I also discuss recent viewings, inlcuding “The Smurfs”, “Gangster Squad”, “The Call”, “Cop Land”, “Movie 43”, “Saint Nick”, “Repo Jake”, “Sakura Killers”, “Stoker” & “Street Crimes”.
