The fall anime season is upon us, and it is again my duty to pick out some shows that might make for some good predictions. As usual, these picks are based on what looks new and unique (or just straight up good). These are my six predictions. Let’s see what’s in store for us.
Ousama Ranking
Bojji is a deaf, powerless prince who strives to prove everyone around him wrong by working his way up to be king. Not only does this have a protagonist that will have us rooting for the underdog, but the animation style decides to go for a look common in the 70s. Based on a web manga of the same name.
Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu.
Based on the hugely popular manga, Shouko Komi is a girl who is very popular in the prestigious private school she attends. The only problem is that she is terrible at communicating , and must rely on fellow student Hitohito Tadano for help. A very highly anticipated anime and the designs manage to do justice to how the characters look and act in the manga. A unique look over all and something I’m really looking forward to.
Mieruko-chan
Based on the manga of the same name, Miko is a high school student who suddenly finds herself being able to see gruesome monsters around her. A mix of comedy and horror, this deals with her trying to carry on with her daily life as she ignores the monsters. It’s gonna be intriguing seeing how exactly this protagonist handles everything.
Shuumatsu no Harem
Based on the manga version, a virus has wiped out 99.9 percent of the males of the human population. Mizuhara Reito finds himself awakens after a five year cryogenic sleep and tries to find the girl he was pining after before the virus hit (as him and other remaining men are coerced to repopulate the earth). This anime not only looks like an interesting take on the harem genre and but interesting overall in concept.
Deep Insanity: The Lost Child
Madness and illness has begun to slowly approach humanity as an underground world is discovered in Antarctica. One young begins a trek to discover the unknown creatures and resources. This anime seems to have a hint of At The Mountains of Madness by HP Lovecraft, so it looks like we might get some cosmic horror to spice things up.
Takt Op. Destiny
Aliens called the D2 have started to invade Earth and ban music, but young who wield music as a weapon (the Musicart) fight back. They are led by Conductors in battle in this show set in a ruined America. The type of battle in this has me intrigued and I wait to see how it pans out.
So those are the picks for this season. Make sure to give them a three episode try, and happy viewing.
