Formed in Krosno, Poland in 1996, Decapitated quickly grew to be one of the most renown technical death metal band and after line up changes and a brief hiatus the band has now released their 6th studio album “Blood Mantra”
The album is a perfect continuation of the bands signature style but they have opened up to take things off in a few different directions, such as incorporating elements of groove metal into tracks like “Exiled In Flesh” and “Veins” as well as taking a more melodic approach on tracks like “Blindness”
The band managers to take all those new elements on board without losing any of the savage death metal sound that they are know for. Its still an incredibly heavy album from start to finish and its kind of album you’d expect from a death metal band in 2014
Highlights of the album include the opening track “Exiled in Flesh” the epic “The Blasphemous Psalm to the Dummy God Creation” and the title track “Blood Mantra”.
While the band have are obviously growing and trying to take a fresh approach they still haven’t lost any of the brutality of their earlier releases. Also having just been announced for an Australian Tour with Suffocation I personally cannot wait to be able to hear this tracks live.
While the band are not trying to reinvent the wheel by any means its awesome to see them take slightly different approach and try new things. All classic death metal fans will wanna check this out just to hear what a fresh take from a classic band sounds like in 2014
