WARNING: There are minor audio issues within the first half hour. I’m an idiot and didn’t plug in my headset, which meant my laptop’s speakers were picking up my voice. It came in low, so I had to mess with the volume to make it audible. It is, thankfully, but occasionally there will be weird sound effects. I apologize for this inconvenience.
It’s a Crime & War double feature this week. The first film, the Crime aspect, is “Redemption” a.k.a. “Hummingbird”, the latest Jason Statham joint where he plays a homeless soldier turned getaway driver. The second film, the War aspect, is “Company of Heroes”, a video game adaptation of WWII soldiers behind enemy lines who discover that Hitler is working on a super bomb. It stars Tom Sizemore, Vinnie Jones, Neal McDonough & Jurgen Prochnow.
Being inducted into the Cinemasochist’s Dungeon of Horrors is “Skyscraper”, a “Die Hard” clone starring Anna Nicole Smith. She’s an expert helicopter pilot who gets involved in a hostage situation at a skyscraper. The terrorists have a bomb, I think. Speaking of bombs, Smith does so in the acting department. She’s even terrible in the sex scenes!
I also discuss recent watches, including “Sleeper”, “Wacko”, “Timecrimes”, “Alone in the Dark”, “Blood Money” & “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”.
