This is a new idea I’m tooling around with. A “Twitterview” as I’ve idiotically dubbed it is exactly what it sounds like. An interview conducted on social networking giant Twitter. The point is to ask a subject about 5-10 question that I randomly select. It could be a celebrity, a FAN contributor or whomever. It’s an attempt to show that everyone can be interesting given the chance. Some people will exceed that credo while others will fail horribly. The challenge is to answer within the confines of the 140 character limit of Twitter. As you’ll see, sometimes that isn’t always so easy.
This particular one was done in conjunction with Cincinnati based “Bogarts” which has Ginny Blackmore in concert June 12th. She took over the feed and proceeded with my questions. As you’ll notice, my questions are supposed to be random. In order to not take over the feed with nonsense, I decided to be a little more pointed. That’s my bit, and now to Ginny Blackmore:
1. Q. Biggest Influence….GO!
A. Lauryn Hill!!
2. Q. Does Auckland still have it’s Kmart?
A. I do not believe so
3. Q. How did you find music was your passion?
A. I grew up w music in the house. My dad’s a singer songwriter. Knew I loved it when I heard Lauryn Hill sing for the 1st time.
4. Q. How’d you like her in Sister Act 2?
A. um….that’s the first time I heard her. ‘His eye is on the sparrow’ at the piano.’ Straight up amazing.
5. Q. We can go cliché. Time machine access: where do you go?
A. Forward 2 years. Just to see how my career’s going :)
6. Biggest pet peeve you see in the music industry today?
A. Biggest PP is that girls are judged so harshly for how they look. And careers could be made or broken cause of it
7. Q. Where is your favorite place to perform?
A. In the bathroom
8. Interesting. How are ticket sales?
A. Sold out
There you have it. A small look into a musician’s mind. We all also talked and shared about our love of the The Fugees’ “The Score”. Ginny has been getting airplay in the United States with her song “Bones”. This was just the first “Twitterview” so expect the questions to get a little more difficult to manage and let’s hope for some interesting answers.
