Sorry about the lack of article last week, folks. Had to much piling up and didn’t have time to write one. But I’m back now, previewing Peelander-Z, Halestorm, Cavo, Taproot, and Dead Sara!
Halestorm – The Strange Case Of…
Just like two weeks ago, this week’s gonna be filled with more hard rock! Guess springtime’s the best for that. Makes sense, as the annual Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio is in May, and is a HUGE event every year. Halestorm will be there this year (as will Cavo), and what better reason to go than to promote a new album! “Love Bites (So Do I)” has been played quite a bit on the local hard rock station, but not enough, here in the Capital City, so we’re sure ready for them to come!
Taproot – The Episodes
Taproot is releasing their 8th studio album this week. The first single, “No Surrender” is worth a listen, if only because it reminds me so much of Benny Benassi at the 2:30 mark. (Just listen to it…you’ll see what I mean) In perhaps what is their highest claim to fame for the band, their song “Calling” from 2005’s Blue-Sky Research was used as the theme song to the WWE’s Unforgiven Pay-per-view, and Billy Corgan co-wrote three songs from that album. Could The Episodes do as much, if not more when it comes to popularity and knowledge from fans? You be the judge!
Dead Sara – Dead Sara
You’re gonna be hearing a lot about Dead Sara in the upcoming months. Highly anticipated album, and a breakout band from this year’s SXSW. Enough credentials…oh you want more? They’ll be appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live in June and have recently performed a live cover of Nirvana’s “Sliver” for AntiQuiet.com. Yeah…they’re pretty exposed right now. Good, good stuff, I like what I hear from them.
Peelander-Z – Space Vacation
Oh yeah! If you don’t know who Peelander-Z is, I suggest you take a day off from work and just YouTube everything regarding these guys. Highly entertaining songs, and they’re wrestling fans! AND they’re from Japan! AND they play punk music! The video for “Star Bowling” should show you exactly what Peelander-Z is about, and should fascinate the eyes when watched in HD!
Cavo – Thick as Thieves
More hard rock is never ever a bad thing. Cavo, the band who brought us “Champagne” (not literally) will be at Rock on the Range this year, like Halestorm, and they also have a new album to promote! Songs like “Celebrity” and “Thick as Thieves” are good, so the album will surely be good as well!
Also out this week, but not covered, are Underwater Sunshine by The Counting Crows and New Life by Monica.
That’s it for this week! Stay tuned for more next week!
