FCW 07/31/11

It’s FCW once again, this time for the last show of the month of July. Apparently, Matt Marlaro has more footage of Regal and Maxine. But, Regal is more interested our upcoming contest. An FCW 15 Title match. But before that:

Superstar Profile: Seth Rollins

Former ROH World Champion

Seth's medal isn't his first taste of gold....or silver in ROH's case

What can be said about Seth Rollins? Seth is probably one of the most well known talents in FCW for those who don’t follow it, mainly due to him being a former ROH World Champion. The former Tyler Black came into FCW with a huge reputation and wrestled his final ROH match losing the ROH Title. Seth would soon become a force in FCW by winning the Jack Brisco classic, and becoming the FCW 15 champion, one of the best title concepts I’ve seen in awhile. All FCW 15 matches are 15 minute Iron Man matches. The winner of the most falls within the 15 minutes is the Champion, and Seth is a guy who could go that and more. Seth also won tag team gold with Richie Steamboat, and one should go on YouTube and check out Steamboat and Rollins as a tag team. But, you know how tag teams are in FCW, so it’s just two guys thrown together.

FCW 15 Championship; The Jack
Seth Rollins (c) vs Rick Victor

In these matches here, it’s a 15 minute iron man match. Seth Rollins has really been the kingpin in these type of matches, saying he’s the first and only champion. 6 months at this point. Quick pin attempts by both guys here, looking to get that first victory. Rollins gets in a number of chops on Victor. Rollins maintains the advantage until Victor catches him and hangs him on the ropes. Victor keeps beating down on Rollins and gives Rollins his own set of chops. The commentators talk about Victor being in the Hart family dungeon, training with Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith.  Rollins makes a quick comeback early on in the match, back and forth action. Rollins does his stomp the corner deal, but Victor catches on to what Rollins does a lot, runs at Rollins, but Rollins catches him with an elbow. Rollins later stomps the head of a bent over Victor into the mat. Rollins gets a fall at 11:03 left in the match.

A funny little TV botch here. They go to a commercial break, but the action is still going on, so you can hear Matt talking to the people on the headset. During this time, Rollins gets on the top rope, and Victor smashes him off onto the ground, looking for a count out. Rollins rolls back in the ring at 9. Running diving elbow in the corner, and Rick Victor picks up a fall.

Rick gets Rollins in a corner and starts stomping him down. The finally go to a commercial. Ahh, TV. Remember folks, it’s a developmental. Victor has in a bit of a camel clutch. Rollins starts fighting back, but Victor keeps the pressure on. A good looking chinlock by Victor, but Rollins gets a jawbreaker. Victor goes back, but Rollins gets a quick kick to the back of the head. Springboard clothesline and Victor falls outside. Dean Ambrose is watching this match as well. Big front flip over the top onto Victor. I don’t trust anyone with two first names by the way. Rollins looking for that stomp again, but Victor moves out of the way. Rollins goes to the top but is caught by Victor. Rollins gets in a few headbutts and goes for a sunset flip, but Victor keeps his hands on the ropes. Rollins gains the advantage again, goes for a springboard clothesline, misses, but gets the advantage again going for the buckle bomb. Lots of reverses, back and forth action. Victor goes to slingshot Rollins into the corner, but Rollins reverses AGAIN, and gets a roll up and a pin.

Rollins vs Ricter

Big dive over the top by Rollins

Both men are going back and forth with punches. Completely back and forth action. Victor gets a backbreaker, and a near fall with about 2 minutes remaining. He yells at Rollins to stay down, and then hits a vicious European Uppercut. Rollins kicks out again and frustration is showing at around 1 minute remaining. Rollins gets up on the shoulder of Victor, but Victor throws him and crotches him on the ropes. He goes to the second and hits a big diving European Uppercut while Rollins is on the ropes. Goes for the pin and Rollins gets his foot on the ropes. Victor goes for multiple pinfalls, but still no go. The time expires.

Winner and STILL FCW 15 Champion, 2-1: Seth Rollins

Awesome match, definitely check it out if you can. I love the FCW 15 Championship, I wish they would use that in WWE. Regal says that these two make him proud that he chose this as a profession.

We now go to Briley Pierce, who says that he still works here. To be fair, most wrestlers turned announcers in FCW have been fired. Fletcher Chase, Scotty Goldman, Sonia, Angela Fong, Leroy McGuirk I think his name was, he was the son of WWF ring announcer Mike McGuirk, he’ll be a future “Yes!”. Anyway, Leo thinks Briley is cute. Indeed. He talks about Bo, saying that being FCW Champion is like when he got his first bicycle. He said it was a pink one too. Better be careful Leo, Punk already got in trouble. For some reason he starts talking like Dusty Rhodes. Leo is put in a bad position because he has to be the dream slayer. He thinks Bo is a good kid, but their dreams can’t co-exist. He cuts a good promo. A weird promo, but good none the less.

Leo Kruger

Ladies pinch!

Matt Marlaro talks about a little issue in the office that Regal had backstage in Steve Kiern’s office which we then go to. Maxine shows Steve Kiern papers that the charges were dropped, I have to remember what happened there anyway. Maxine and Norman Smiley argue about being General Manager, and Kiern says there is another tape.

FCW Divas Championship
Aksana (c) vs Naomi

Naomi has got this half Luna Vachon haircut going. Aksana comes out with a new look (i.e. the look she has on Smackdown), no belt and no crown. She says they’re not going to have a match tonight. Umm, ok. Would Naomi win the belt? Her with her awful haircut and awful music. Instead out comes Norman Smiley. Norman Smiley says her replacement is Sonia. Epic

Naomi

Who did your hair, Stevie Wonder? I definitely failed at joke making for this, it's late at night though.

Naomi vs Sonia

The recently released Sonia competes in one of her last FCW matches. Great drop kick at the start by Naomi, then hitting the booty call (which is a jumping ass shot to the face). Sonia gets the advantage kind of hitting a drop toe hold, but Naomi blocking and Sonia just kicking her. Matt talks about how beautiful the women are, instead of what’s going on. Sonia tries pulling Naomi out of the corner but fails, then does it again and succeeds. Regal says he looks at the ladies for their skills and not their looks. Naomi gets slapped and pisses off Naomi. Nice crossbody by Naomi, very athletic is Naomi. Slam and then Naomi does something, the camera didn’t catch it. Man, can you imagine if Vince was in FCW. He’d have a heart attack. Odd looking suplex by Sonia, which Naomi decides to no sell. A dropkick by Naomi and she gets the pin.

Winner: Naomi

And yeah, now I know why Sonia was fired. Oh well. IT’S BRILEY PIERCE AGAIN! Apparently he has an interview with someone and he’s surprised by it. He’s interviewing Bo Rotundo. He’s surprised by that? He interviewed him like, a week or two ago. Bo talks about comments Damien Sandow made about not really winning the match and thinking he’s the rightful champion. Bo says Damien needs to check his moles, which maybe some other word, Bo’s got a thick redneck Florida accent. He’ll throw down anywhere at anytime. So it is on like neck bone.

YES! They were in FCW! This week, Cable Jones:

Calling Dr. Jones. The poor guy didn't get the Holy Grail.

One of the dumber names in FCW belongs to Mr. Cable Jones. Or excuse me. Should I say, Dr. Cable Jones? Dr. Jones (ahhh, I get it now) was actually a 10 year pro, starting in 2000, with one of his trainers being Mikey Whipwreck, trainer of other WWE stars like Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder and Trent Barreta. Cable had issues in FCW though in regards to injuries. One of the odder gimmicks he was given when he came back, he was repackaged as Dr. Cable Jones, a Chiropractor. An evil Chiropractor. With a specialty in PAIN!!! Sadly, a few months later, the good Doctor had to go back to cracking backs as he was released in November 2010. A fun little fact was he appeared in the movie, “The Wrestler” as Lamar Braxton Porter.
Erick Rowen w/ Byron Saxton & James Bronson vs Kenneth Cameron

The long lost Highlander Erick Rowen comes to the ring with Byron Saxton and James Bronson, who are hired goons of Saxton. Not the first time Saxton has had goons. Once upon a time, Wade Barrett was one of Byron’s goons. Byron gets on the mic, and wants Titus to watch this match, as they are going to paint a picture that will be the beginning of the end of Titus O’Neil. His opponent is Kenneth Cameron. Trained by Robbie Brookside, a friend of William Regal.

Regal talks about his team with Robbie Brookside as the Golden Boys, and Regal had long blonde hair. Rowen throws Cameron off him after a side headlock. He tries a dropkick  but it gets swiped away. Cameron being beaten pillar to post, and then gets locked in a big bear hug, on top of being swung around. Cameron grabs the beard to make the break. Cameron clips the leg and goes for a jumping DDT but is shoved off. Rowen hits a chokeslam and gets the 3 count.

Winner: Erick Rowen

James Bronson gets in the ring and locks a reverse cross armbreaker on Cameron, until Titus O’Neil’s music hits and he hits the ring. I wish I could download that song. DON’T MAKE ME PUT THIS WOOD ON YA!!!

Submission

Bronson locks in a submission I'm actually not aware of, at least in regards of a name. Now I know how Michael Cole feels.

Lucky Cannon vs Husky Harris

This is another sad match if you’re a fan of Lucky Cannon. By the time this comes out, Lucky Cannon would have been long released. He even has a banner on the wall, I wonder what will happen to that. They lock up and Lucky gets shoved down at the start of the match. He gets punched and escapes to the outside. Was gonna punch Husky but backs off and goes outside. Matt Marlaro says Lucky Cannon’s future is bright in WWE. Chop block by Lucky and is now mounting him and lays in some punches. Lucky now with the advantage. The beat down continues with a rear chinlock and beating down in the corner, til Husky gets a boot up and hits a clothesline. Lucky goes for a hand full of tights for a pin, but with no luck. Big Urinage, followed by Harris going for a three point stance. They eventually knock heads. Lucky complains to the ref about his eye and Sandow comes in with a chair to the face of Husky Harris. Bo Rotundo comes out and gets a chair to his face for his troubles. Lucky Cannon goes for the pin, and the victory.

Winner: Lucky Cannon

Damien

Don't worry folks, it's the corner of the chair. Damien pays no fine!

Hell, at least he went out with a victory. I wonder how that’s explained on FCW TV, especially since next week it will be Bo Rotundo vs Damien Sandow for the FCW Title.
