Let free from an Asylum, Headcase tours wrestling rings all over the world. Behind the mask is a tortured soul who hides his face because it represents the ugliness of the world. He also hides his face, so to speak, and posts here on the forums. I talked to the man behind the mask about his wrestling career, his character, his inspirations and his future goals. Enjoy!
1) How long have you been wrestling?
For exactly three years now.
2) Did y0u always want to be a wrestler?
Absolutely! Ever since I was a little kid reading wrestling magazines and playing with action figures.
3) How did you come up with your character?
Funny story; it was the day after an ex had broken up with me and I went into wrestling training the next morning. I was as intense as I’ve ever been. I impressed the hell out of my trainer and we came up with Headcase together the next day on Facebook. He gave me two months to get gear ready to debut the new character.
4) Who was your favorite wrestler growing up?
Hulk Hogan and Sting as a child; Taz, Rey Mysterio Jr. and Mick Foley as a teen.
5) If you could wrestle one wrestler, past or present, who would it be?
I’d like to wrestle with or against Rey Mysterio. I’d always had a dream of winning the Tag Team titles with him. We’re both the same size, too, so we’d be a helluva team.
6) What was your best match?
It was actually a training match that no-one but the other trainees in the room saw. I was up against my best friend, “Pretty Boy” Bradley Ford. We came up with a finish where he would go for the Fame-asser and have me set up for it. As he jumped, I’d turn and hit him with the Codebreaker. We did the spot, timed it perfectly and even the other trainees popped for it. We were both proud of it! We’ve never worked each other since, not even on shows.
7) What was your worst match?
Again, another training match that only the other trainees saw. I was up against “Livewire” Lewis Cooper, who wanted to do a comedy match with me because of the size difference. He wanted me to do stuff like failing to climb the ropes, go for a 619 and get tangled up in the ropes. The trainees and my trainer didn’t “get” the comedy. My trainer was telling me for ages that he wanted that ten minutes of his life back.
8) What is the worst injury you’ve had?
Around two and a half years ago, someone gave me a suplex, without calling it, and held on to my neck pretty tight. It looked like an awkward Impaler DDT and all my weight came down on my neck. I couldn’t move for a few seconds, but I finished the match. Ever since, my neck sounds like gears going round in a watch every time I move my head. The weird thing is, I haven’t been in pain with it since it happened.
9) What is your main goal?
Pretty much to make money doing this as a full-time job and to become my promotion’s Heavyweight Champion someday.
10) Do you have any advice for aspiring wrestlers?
Yes. It took me three years of hard work, on/off bookings and people telling me I’d never make it to get where I am today. So, persevere if you’re in the same position as me. If you really, really want it, never give up because something will come of it.
